Chris Brannigan set to leave AFC Fylde Community Foundation

AFC Fylde Community Foundation can confirm that Chief Executive Officer, Chris Brannigan, will be leaving the organisation at the end of this month to take up a new professional opportunity.

Since joining the Foundation two years ago, Chris has overseen a period of significant growth and development. During his tenure, the charity has secured record levels of charitable income, strengthened its long-term sustainability through a range of multi-year funding partnerships, expanded its reach across the community, and recently secured a landmark National Lottery award of £256,975.

Chair of Trustees, Dave Edmundson, said this about Chris:

"Thanks to Chris's exceptional leadership, the Foundation has experienced remarkable growth, expanding both its reach and its impact within the community. His vision, dedication and unwavering commitment have transformed the organisation into a leading force for positive change. While we are saddened to see him step down, his legacy will continue to shape our future for years to come."

Reflecting on his time at the charity, Chris Brannigan said:

"Leading AFC Fylde Community Foundation has been the most enjoyable and rewarding chapter of my career. While I am proud of what we have achieved together, I am even more grateful for the people I have had the privilege to work alongside. Our staff, trustees, participants, partners, funders and supporters have all played a part in the Foundation's success, and I will always be deeply thankful for the trust and support they’ve shown me.

Leaving was never part of the plan, but I was presented with an opportunity that I felt I couldn’t turn down. Whilst I leave with a heavy heart, I do so knowing the Foundation is in a strong position and has an exciting future ahead.

I will leave with immense pride in what we have built together over the last two years and with memories that I’ll carry throughout my career. AFC Fylde Community Foundation will always hold a very special place in my heart, and whilst I may be moving on professionally, I will remain one of its biggest supporters and will follow its future success with great pride.”

The Foundation is pleased to confirm that, following a Board appointment process, Deputy CEO Brett Whitehead will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer from 1st July. Having played a key role in the organisation's growth and success, Brett will continue to lead the charity's work across Fylde. To ensure a seamless transition, Brett has been working closely with Chris and the Board over recent months on a structured handover, providing continuity for staff, participants, partners and funders alike.

Chris added:

"I am particularly delighted that Brett will become CEO. Having worked alongside him every day, I’ve seen first-hand his integrity, professionalism and unwavering commitment to those we serve. Brett’s played a significant role in the progress the Foundation has made, and this opportunity is thoroughly deserved.

Over recent months, Brett and I have worked closely to ensure a smooth transition, and that process has only reinforced my confidence in his leadership. More importantly, he is someone who genuinely cares about people and always puts the organisation's mission first. I know the Foundation is in outstanding hands."
